My Philosophy
Everyone deserves a space where they feel safe, valued, and truly understood. I believe healing happens in connection when you are met with authenticity and compassion, and when you are free to show up as your whole self without judgment. I am passionate about walking alongside people who feel overlooked or misunderstood, especially those in LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent communities. Therapy is not about fixing you, but about helping you rediscover your voice, build resilience, and create a life that feels truly yours.
What Sessions Will Look Like
Our sessions are collaborative, affirming, and rooted in curiosity. We will explore the challenges bringing you here while drawing out the strengths you already hold. You can expect a supportive, nonjudgmental space that encourages growth while honoring your pace and your unique story. My approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and identity-affirming, blending mindfulness, narrative practice, and self-advocacy. Together, we will focus on moving from surviving to thriving.
Education and Training
I am completing a Master of Social Work degree at The Ohio State University with training in LGBTQ+ affirmative practice. I hold QMHA-R certification in Oregon and am completing my clinical practicum at Full Spectrum Therapy under supervision by Paige Myers-Matthews, LPC, CADC I. I also hold a Master’s in the Art of Teaching from Lewis & Clark Graduate School and previously taught middle and high school social studies.
More About Me
I live in Portland with my husband and our dog, and I bring my whole self into this work. As an autistic, gay man, I know what it means to fight for spaces where you can feel safe, seen, and valued. Before becoming a therapist, I taught social studies and developed courses on culture, race, feminism, and LGBTQ+ rights. Earlier in my journey, I helped organize the youth portion of the 2010 March for Equality in Washington, D.C., an experience that deepened my lifelong passion for advocacy, justice, and building communities of care.
I am a fierce advocate for anyone who trusts me to hold space for them. I aim to provide safety for clients to show up as they are and be seen, understood, and unconditionally accepted.
